Movie Time Review" Replicator"

The Brooklyn Horror Film Festival may be over but the screams keep coming to us as we got the chance to watch Replicator, the body horror revenge flick by Mark Andrew Hamer and starring Brey Noelle, KateLynn E. Newberry, Jim Azelvandre, Brian Spangler and LeJon Woods. The film is set in a small town where the residents are morally or ethnically challenged. Darby (Noelle) is a public defender who is one of those morally challenged individuals because of her job she plays both sides. Her dad, Ron (Azelvandre) is a free spirit individual who have cancer and living his best life. This is where the film gets interesting as Darby finds Ron in a uncompromising position in her home and after that have words with him before heading to the bar where her friend (Newberry) works at to confine in her. However the next night Ron goes over there to have some drinks and once he leaves the bar he's not the same after that. We see the abduction taking place and replicates Ron back to Darby where he dies from shaving. The investigation begins and the examiner discovers more than what the town can handle. The performances of Newberry and Noelle is fantastic as we see them as friends into enemies throughout the film. They balanced each other in the scene where they confess to each other. There is great chemistry between them and with the sheriff as they tried to figure out what happened to Ron.

The abduction scenes where bodies are replicated hence the movie title looks really great as you can feel a lifeform trying to inhabit another and cringe while watching. The special effects of the alien look like a classic throwback to the abduction movies of old where a woman gives birth after being with a alien. It was nice to see where the origin was and how Neila tries to convince Darby that we can take over with their gift. Another good point in the film is Darius, the medical examiner. He's more or less the comic relief of the movie and is good at it. The scene where he discovers the communication mechanism inside the replicated body is hilarious. You can sense the writing for Darius was built for Woods because he nailed it. Azelvandre's performance of Ron was ok and Spangler as Sheriff Williams. Replicator is good and scary but in the gross way which is good. It was not one of those psychological mind game thrillers but a classic body snatcher movie that gets the formula right. Very enjoyable and great scenery with brilliant costume designs. The screams in Replicator may not be a lot but they are there and it be frightening yet horrific. We definitely recommend checking it out when it is released.

Replicator is produced by Good Deed Entertainment along with Crash Cat Media and Genre Labs. It is distributed by Cranked Up Entertainment.
